When Shapearl Wells’ son Courtney is discovered with a bullet in his back outside a Chicago police station, she immediately distrusts the official narrative. Shapearl launches her own investigation into his murder and begins recording her meetings with detectives. But when the city won’t release videos of her son outside the station, Shapearl teams up with journalists at the Invisible Institute to uncover the truth. Together, they seek to find out who killed Courtney. Somebody explores the racial disparities and turbulent relationship between law enforcement and citizens in one of America’s largest cities.
